Dr. Elizabeth Newnham, Senior lecturer and Program Convenor Midwifery at the University of Newcastle, Australia will give an online Seminar on ‘Evidence based practice to support physiological labour; and birth’.

This will take place during our Network Meeting on Wednesday 13th April which begins at 10am via Microsoft Teams. Current members will receive an MS Teams invite.

Dr. Elizabeth Newnham is a senior lecturer and director of midwifery programs at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her 20-year career includes clinical midwifery practice, teaching and research. Research interests include cultural and political analysis of birthing practice, and the role of midwives in promoting physiological and humanised birth. Key areas of study are birth culture and environment, midwifery practice to support birth physiology, birth technologies, pain in labour, maternity policy/politics and informed consent/bioethics, and she has published widely in these areas, including the book: Towards the Humanisation of birth: A study of epidural analgesia and hospital birth culture.
