A Community of Practice

The All-Ireland Midwifery Network is a newly formed all-island initiative, with the aim to connect midwives into a Community of Practice.

Together we will create this Community of Practice through partnerships and collaboration for sharing of best practice. The establishment of this community will enable networked learning and increase the implementation of evidence-based care. Underpinning this Community of Practice are the three pillars of the Network – Collaboration, Community and Evidence-based.

Our Vision

For women and partners to have a positive perinatal experience, by enhancing the physical and psychological wellbeing of women and their family, providing infants with the best start in life.
Establishing this community of midwifery practice is crucial in facilitating our vision, in collaboration with interdisciplinary teamwork and integration across settings.

Our Ethos

The network will be informed by the evidence, and developed and grown through the needs and contribution of its members.

A Community of practice is a group of people who share a concern or a passion [midwifery practice],
which they learn how to do better as they interact regularly.’
